I watched Letterman’s interview with former US president Obama and towards the end they both attributed much of their professional success not to just hard work and intelligence — but to Luck.
Lady Luck helped them out many a times and they could see that they were not the only agent of their agenda, they were being supported by a larger entity then themselves. Serendipity. Luck. The forces of History.
The psychology of luck as Richard Wiseman showed in his reseach http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/3304496/Be-lucky-its-an-easy-skill-to-learn.html — that personality tests revealed that unlucky people are generally much more tense than lucky people, and research has shown that anxiety disrupts people’s ability to notice the unexpected. I know I have been luckier since I meditated and through quiet time and prayer which calms me in times of crisis.
I cannot speak for all the lucky people .. but I know I create my own luck and I know I have a Higher Power not just on my side but on everyone’s side. So everything always works out for the good.
Wiseman’s research revealed that lucky people generate good fortune via four basic principles.
1) They are skilled at creating and noticing chance opportunities,
2) Make lucky decisions by listening to their intuition,
3) Create self-fulfilling prophesies via positive expectations, and
4) Adopt a resilient attitude that transforms bad luck into good
